Investing in Top Talent to Build a High Performance Culture
Problem: Emily discovered that the go-to-market team’s top performers were hungry for more than hitting a quota. Employee survey data revealed that top performers were eager for growth. They craved development opportunities, leadership experience and a clear path for advancement.
The organisation’s existing programmes weren’t meeting the need of these top-talent employees, and the organisation was at risk of losing these valuable employees to competitors. In addition, the wider field was craving enablement and training which had greater relevancy and impact.
Solution: To address this challenge, Emily launched an Excellence Academy, an elite year-long programme designed to invest in the top 10% of performers and enable top-performers to provide structured and impactful mentorship and enablement to the wider field. This initiative focused on providing exclusive development opportunities to top-talent employees, while fostering a culture of high performance and maximising impact across the organisation.
The USP of the programme was its ‘Give-backs’ and ‘Gets’ pillars. Top-talent ‘Gets’ comprised the exclusive development programming they received, and the ‘Give-backs’ comprised the ask and commitment of all programme members to volunteer two hours per month of their time to mentoring, training or enabling other members of the organisation.
